1875 Oct 6th Cloudy Kate & Jacob both here Ed got all my Pigs but 1 & he come up Plowing & sewing wheat where I had corn cloudy & like for rain

7th Thursday Oct 1875 cleared off & cool no frost to hurt Ed sewing wheat in Piny old field where we had wheat fair day & cool

8. Mima Died Edmond has gone after her Father Jimmie after Cris Lain to make her coffin clear pretty day some frost last night

9th Mima Gilbert Buried to day at Stoney Point where Edmd lives Beautiful weather

10. Myself & Miss Frankey Leake went to Meeting to Miss Frankey Sick at Meeting House cloudy & cool, Kill 1 shoat this morning 11th expect to fix Pen & put up my Hogs to fatten 11th tomorrow morning on this evening

12th. Plowing for wheat I went to Mount Airy Edmd Tucker & son Robt working on Grave Yard

13 " " " " " " Edmd Dews & Jimmie not quite done Plowing fresh ground for wheat Will Sew it to day & Harrow in & Chop it & fix it

14 Shelled corn & sent Jimmie to Yates Mill 4 Bus. corn for meal & 4 Bus lent Edmd for meal lent. cutting down & Pilling corn to Sew wheat this morning Miss Franky Sick this morning & was very Sick at meeting house 3 or 4 days ago. cloudy & like for rain

15 Sewing wheat above John's Spring next to woods. Nannie Dews will Dig our Sweet Potatoes to day windy & cold Meeting at S. S

16th Rained last night nearly all night went to meeting very windy & cool 7 converts at S S. Meeting Bro Williams stayed till friday evening cloudy some

18th. pretty morning meeting Still going on Ed. & Jimmie sewing wheat balance cutting & piling corn above John's Spring

1875 Oct 19 I have made a contract with Ed Dews to live with me 1876 to work as I want him on the Same as in 1875 except he is only to have Shucks for 1 cow & yearly & I If dont get another hand I am to have the rails malled around the field & he is to hall them & put them up & cut above the new Barn & cutting for wood & mall the railes & wood & get up that ps for Tobacco

19th Fencing Edmd & Toby that ought to have been done 6 months ago, next to Mr Lewis's meeting still going on at Strait Stone & Baptising to day made farm Pen fence up this evening, Edmd Tucker & son Edmd Hauled up my corn ½ day - to shuck pen Lot cleared off this evening

20 Plowing & sewing wheat & nearly

21st Finished sewing wheat & sewed 15 Bus. what we sewed last year, Nannie Dews pulling corn for me to day - lent Jorden my cart 19 & 20 to hauled up Logs for his Hosue broke off the nose ps & Box Loose, - Beautifull weather at this time - weaned Nellys' Colt very easy got up 18 shoats to alter & Keep them out of the corn field they took to the corn field some time ago

22 Edmd Jimmie Nannie & Wm & are helping me Pulling off corn shucking & Housing my corn

23 Hauling Leaves getting wood etc to day I went to Mount Airy yesterday clear weather

24 I went to S. S. Prayer Meeting not many outto day

25 Edmd Dews began to get up Corn fine clear weather finishing mine last week made 6½ Bbls & 1 Stalk fodder good warm weather Geo Patrick is to live with Jorden Graves at Mount =ain Spring made Grape wine to day

26. Pulling & Hauling corn this side of branch Ed Wright & Geo come to get Slabs for Shop

1875 Oct 27 Ed Halling up Corn this evening from other Side of Branch from House 8 Loads this Side of Branch & Hunting up Hay too. Rained last night about night, clear this day & cooler Ed & Geo Wright getting getting boards till 12 Oct. for shop & both of them Stoped

28th Ed & Geo. Wright here to covering Shop Ed Dews Stoped to haul boards & Joice &

29th Boards to cover work shop Ed Dews hauling & Pulling corn to day by Johns4 days settled spring & above to day above Path thro field

30 Mr. Jos. M. Moses came here yesterday, Rained last night & to day shelled cornetc Mr M. went home this evening Turned cold & Blustering this evening - Rained several times in coarse of the day

31st Windy & very cool clear day

Nov 1st. Sent Jimmie to Millers Mill 5½ Bus wheat 3 Bags Bbl for flour, 4½ Bushel corn for meal 2 Bushels for Edmd Dews lent for meal pretty morning tolerable cool, balance cutting wood &C Pulling corn

2nd day of Novr cold & windy Hauling up corn & trying to finish to day Election day for memb =ers to Legislature, I am going to S.S Meeting House to the Election, Mr Wright has not come yet -

3rd cloudy & like for rain Mr Wright here this morning at work Jimmy will go to Mill Finished Hauling up corn that morning, 24 Cart Loads in shucks, Edmd Dews will begin to shuck corn this morning.

4th Cloudy & Rained last night night shucking corn here & I am to go Laines after corn & the 4th tho it look like for rain, I want to divide the Tobacco & gets the shucks If I can got the Shucks & corn Rain last night

5 Raining this morning & cold if it does not rain too hard I'll go to S S. to See Mr Blair & pay ½ my Taxes

6th Shucking corn Rained hailed & snowed yesterday I went to S S M & paid JH Hargrave my Taxes etc as pRects for 1875 Township & all very cold this morning clear this morning & cold

1875 Novr 6 Jacob P Graves cut spayed & marked for me 13 Pigs & we turned them out cut 1 calf Dolleys

7th Sunday Raining this morning & continued all day disagreeable day & right cold rain -

8 Striping my Tobacco to day & finished mine & striping on his own & cloudy like for rain Edmd getting wood this morning I am going on to John W Lains up to Richard Whiteheads to carry Joe home shucking corn to day cleared off

9. 10. 11. 12 went to Mr Moses Jerrys & J R Whitehead carried Joe home all well rained 1 night

13th Beautiful morning Sent Jimmie for my flour Killed Shoat Mot & Puss come with me home shucking & will house corn to day. weather moderate Jimmie at Road yesterday with Mr J Marshall from Good hope to S. S. M H.

14th. I went to Strait Meeting pretty day Housed corn got wood & nothing much Jerry came down about night 6 of my shoats come up 15 Cloudy this morning & look like rain till 12 oclock I did not go to meeting to day

15. Raining this morning Striping Tobacco a little while then went to shucking corn & finished shucking a little in the night, I am Sick all day

16th cloudy & like for Rain expect to house corn to day Raining & went to striping Tobacco barn back Garden all my shoats up this morning that was spayed

17. & 18 & 19. finished shucking corn Housing & getting & getting Some wood & looks like Rainbut he Did not come sometimes

18 &19sent for Doct Haley for NannieKill Wyatt & 1 other & 1 Beef & this morning sent hide till 18 & she was better when he came to Starkeys to Tan Salted & put up meat Pride Hunt Came here last night & left this morngmorning

19 Weather not so cold as yesterday firing up cow pen Lot shelter etc to day Edmd Tucker at work here about it Sent to Yates Mill 17th for meal Edmond & me I lent Edmd 1 Bus corn old

20 Sent Jimmie to Strait Stone Creek after fodd =der Edmd cutting wood to burn weather warm my wife & Miss Frankey both sick a bed Miss Frankey very Sick Nannie Dews Dews cooking milking etc to day -

1875 Novr 20th. Saturday Edmd Tucker & his 2 Sons Ed & Chist came over here & stacked my Greens this morning. still cloudy & weather unsettled Nannie was right poorly & we thought She had the Eresipelas, but the Lord & last night Miss Frankie taken Sick & Nannie has been about to day trying up Lard to day & Miss Frankie has been on Bed & very Sick all day Sent up to Lain SS. & got my one fourth part Fodder 4 or 500, So Lain thought & they have Striped out my ¼ ready of Tobacco to bring home that is 2 days Nannie Dews has help, Edmd Tucker & his 2 Boys put up our Greens this morning. Haulled wood this evening Joseph Thompson here to day -----

21st. Rained yesterday before I got home but the fodder did not get wet much rained last night & this morning till near 12 oclock So that I neither went to the Grange yesterday nor Prayer Meeting to day

23 - Brot my 4th part of Tobacco Brot from S S Creek & Hung it this morning Edmd Jimmi Nannie & Wm got done by 12 oclock 143 Sticks good 68 Lugs 41 Sticks all in Barn back of Garden, 800 or 1000 lbs in all I think

24th Getting wood sent Jimmie after Doct Haley Sick Nannie hasEresipelas at this time Mrs Lewis here this evening

25. Ed Dews Hauling up Brush for farm pen this morning. Clear cold morning

26. Raining this morning striping in new prize nat Nannie not there to in new prize Barn Edmd striping his Tobacco very sorry

27 Clear pretty morning weather moderate

28. Jerry Sent Robin after Ora yesterday evening yesterday Saturday went to Lanes to measure corn for Jerry & got 3½ Bbls good corn & 1 Bbl nubbins quite cloudy & cool to day.

29 I sent to S.S. Creek for straw & chaff to day Hauling wood, put my hogs in close Pen this day quite cool to day

30 novemr Hauling & cutting stalks

Decr 1st Fair & cold fixing to Kill Hogs " fixing to Kill tomorrow morning fair day & cold
