To His Excellency,
Benj. G. Humphreys, Gov. of Mississippi

Dear Sir,

The Board of the Orphans' Home of the State of Missis-sippi, are to hold a meeting at Meridian, on Thursday night the 13th inst. As you are the President of the Board of Trustees of this noble Charity, and as business of great importance will come before this meeting, preparatory to the opening of the Home on the 1st of October, I am very anxious that you should be present. Please come up on Thursday morning. You can return on Friday morning. Hereafter, we want to arrange matters so that the Board will be required to meet but twice a year—the business of the Institution in the interim, being transacted by an Executive Committee. The Property is now Completely out of debt, and we have a large amount of cutlery, hardware, crockery, groceries, provisions, furniture, &c. &c. already on hand. We shall open under very favorable auspices.

A great Fair is to be held in St. Louis the last of this month for the relief of Southern suf-ferers, & I want to get our full share of the proceeds. Your aid in this important matter is especially desired.

Yours Very Respectfully & Truly,

Thos. C. Teasdale, Gen. Aget O. Home
