Col J. S. Bailey

Dear friend

I suppose it will not be long, before the Legislature will adjourn; and Judicial appointments will be made. Will you take some interest, in procuring the appointment of Circuit Judge for me in this district. I have not seen the bill, but understand your County, is not in it. I am sorry of that. But you have known me long; & I feel sure, if it was left to the bar & people of the District I could get the office. If I did not; I would not have it. I can get the majority of - if not - the entire bar.

I feel some ambition to be restored to the office from which I was unjustly ejected by a Military Despot - please see some of my friends in the senate & pause & see what they think as well as the Governor. If you think it
