HOSMER H.G. FEB 12
1600 Prairie Avenue Chicago Feb 12
My dear Mrs. Sewall
Here are my rhymes I shall be at the Banquet. You will see me if your psychical be as good as your ocular vision and if you do not discover me it is no proof that I am not there but proof that psyche is at fault.
I send with my shyness which you must [?] as, and if, you think proper

A Reminiscence
Written to be read at the Banquet given Miss Anthony on her 70th birthday
1 When first I met the lady The hero of this feast Twas on a certain May day Gone two score years at least
2 Feeling of the tribe described as Lilliputain I sought her office to subscribe for the 'Revolution'.
3 No sight of me she ever had But she had made such stir That all had heard - and I must add Had heard a sight of her.

4 I wrote my name - the lady took a look at it and me And then another earnest look she took and then quoth she
5 'You Harriet Hosmen!' then embraced with loving words no lack I hear them still and then she placed upon my cheek a smack.
6 Since that day I, true sailor cut Have sailed the ocean blue Belike in some Cunarder, but The smack sails with me too
7 And from that hour has ever sailed To make me feel more rich Yet [hers?] to term that craft I've failed Craft or love Witchcraft which?
