HOOKER, ISABELLA BEECHER MAR 8, 1893

Harford March 8. 1893

Dear Mrs Sewall

" A partial list of the Advisory Council on a World's Congress of Representative Women" shows me that my name has not been put on the list & therefore that I should not probably be invited to take any part in the programme. This would be painful to me, since I am now 71 years of age, yet devoted more than ever to the interests of womankind & to mankind also.

I would like on the opening day to offer prayer if that is in order, or to participate in some may with the introduction of foreign delegations who are acquainted with my sister Mrs. Stowe - as I am the only member of our family who will probably attend the World's Fair & certainly the only woman member. On the sixth day I would like to speak on Religion. My plan is to spend the month of May in Chicago & my husband has about decided to take his vacation there & enjoy the fair in its freshness.
