Logic IV. 75
[foreign text] 105BC The reason A person rusty in his Greek might not at once catch the meaning here so I append a littoral translation:
For if you were to ask me what it is which were it in a body by virtue of it the body will be [hot?] I should not give you that sure but simple answer that hest would be that by virtue of which it was so but a more artificial one drawn from what has just now been said that fire would be that by virtue of which it was so, nor should you as what would be in the body by virtue of which it will be sick, I should not say by sickness was by what it is sick, but that by virtue of which it is sick would be fever, nor should I say that; what should be in a number by virtue of which it will be odd would be oddness by virtue of which it is odd but the monad is that by virtue of which it is odd as so forth.
