It aims in the very opposite direction; namely, to break up reasonings into their smallest fragments, so that their constitution can be fully understood our aim.
To effect a speedy and ready passage from premisses to conclusion, we should want on the contrary, to reduce long series of reasonings to single steps; which is precisely what we shall aim to avoid.
In short, this system is not at all intended for an aid in reasoning, but only for an aid in the analysis of reasonings.
