Sec Bd Trade London
Sir, 16th Augt 1858.
The Sloop above mentioned was a
flat bottom vessel. The owner is a poor man.
She was wrecked outside Spurn Point on the 13th Ulto
after being laid on shore and loaded with gravel
She was but 34 Tons burden, and the stores which
belonged to her that have been saved are of but
little value. The master did not appear before me
to undergo the usual examination on oath till the 9th
instant, and it was not till the 14th that he called
and paid the £1, in respect of the same. Whether
under the circumstances stated by the poor man
I may be allowed to return the sum of £1, is
for consideration.
