Slept well all night head ach from a cold, received a paper from hom and a hymn in ballad form distributed them amoungst the men Bro Grant and Jualhia up to see Leiu Simpers of the 8th reg had a pleasant time with him and Capt Ireland came down the Potomak down the Bank of the Canal and crossed the Conaojie Creek at the aequdoc bought a spelling Book for one of my boys and saw some rebels that had just crossed over they had been in the woods for a week and they made good their escape the
