Tuesday 31 last night after
I had retired to bed a short time
a dificulty arose in the other
end of the house between the
young man of the house as I
learned to day and an entruder
which threatened to be a Serious
matter I thought I
would leave the house for
the remainder of the night
suiting the action to the thoughts
I arose and told my black boy
to remain and I went down
to quarter Master Touchstone
and (__) with Mr. Carhart
snow several inches deep this
morning but warm I went
down to the ferry where the
Baltimore train arrived wrote
to my family am in good
health for which I feal
thankfull
