This seems to be a miscellaneous page of sorts, describing taken egg sets; I imagine, perhaps, that the asterisks refer to some instance in his notes? I believe I recall noticing (and transcribing, in turn) one such asterisk.
These may go with the next page (55) which has one and two asterisk marks.
