3 Nov 1852 Worked in shop - Harriet Margaret Jane & Anna Howard came up - Election returns indicate the election of Pierce by a great majority 4 Went to Elkton in the morning for coal & to look at a cow of Jno D McCauley's -- Locos in great spirits at the election of Pierce and Whigs long in the face. Warm and pleasant day -- Shelled corn at night
5 Rainy day - Worked in shop - John D. McCauley came up and offered his cow for black heifer - Milly did not get home. 6 -- Saturday -- Rains all day Milly came home - Rev(?) J.B. Miller called at shop

12 Nov 1852 Rain in morning and very dark - Worked in shop and have headache. Lizzie Brown came after paint. Went at night to see Ichabod, who is lying very ill.
13th Cool and beginning to look wintry - worked in shop. Sat up with Icabod at night in company with Mr Lane
14 Sunday Cold and blustering - Still have headache -- called to see Mr Burke in the afternoon
15 Went to Elkton in morning Bought kettle for store - Sent Dr Mitchell to see Ichabod. Bought John a coat from Anderson. Borrowed drill of F. Jervis.

24 Pleasant day - Mr Price finished putting up his corn. Morris's Husking - Jas Fulton came down to go at fence Murder at Cat Swamp
25 Thanksgiving Day -- Appear ance of rain. Fulton began spa(__) rails - I went after dinner to survey for Miss McClelland - No papers

2 Pleasant day - John Spence cutting wood. Montilion(?) returned
3 Appearance of rain - John took chickens to Elk. Sarah Steel died. Recd letter from John McClelland. Rained all night.
4 Saturday - Ground very wet. water muddy in well WEnt to Mr Price's at night and Gen Mackey was there repairing clock
5 Sunday Pleasant day - Mr Helmbold preached at New Leeds
6 Worked in shop in morning - Jos Miller & Wm Thomas Mc came along Went to Elkton in afternoon recd $14 from Crookshank - School meeting of Trustees at night. Door locked.

Dec 11th 1852 Rain - was summoned by Rossell Constable to appraise property of John T. Scarborough distrained(?) on for rent by J.G. Wilson. Meeting at night to apppoint trustees of school
12 Sunday Pleasant - Mr Morris and wife came here and stayed all night -
13 Monday - Went to Mr Price's to butcher - John G Wilson there and E Chandler. Our hog weighed 219 lbs - Mr Prices 320:334
14 Cold in morning - Went to T.W. Simpers & Hadgate's - Called to see Henry McC - found him in bed, but thinks he is recovering - Louisa Walmsley married.
