Mr. Joshua Saunders

Capt. John Woodbury is arriv’d here from the
Musqueto Shoar which he left to 6th of June. Capt. Price was to sail the
next day for South Carolina, with a full load, which is all of moho-
gony plank. The split ends of the whole being saw’d off. This being a
deviation will effect your policy. Youl therefore please to inform how I shall
proceed so as to keep your interest coverd in case she comes to Newport.
The price of Musqueto Shoar mohogony is uncertain, but believe you may
depend on its fetching half a pisteene per superficial foot. I will still
endeavour to find a purchaser. I rec’d your fav’r of 3rd curr’tt respecting the
land I proposd giving to sett your college on, note the trustees think it
not large enough. Had it been so, they shou’d have been intirely welcome to it.
By the last post I rec’d a letter from Imanuel Case Jun’r the person who pro
posd purchasing it, inform’g me that one Geo. Fowler had taken possession of
& inclosd the land above 20 years ago & designs to keep it in virtue of his
possession. How far your laws will countinance him I dont know, but will
inform myself. I am

Your most hum’l serv’t

I wrote you the 26th ult’o respecting the
insurance on Capt. Price

Sir

I did not receive yours of 13th ult’o till last Monday & having desird Mr. Fitch to
confer with you. Delayd my answering your letter till now. Mr. Fitch tells we may
expect to see you or Mr. Warner in town at the time of tryall. We think it
will be best for you to take a proper power from all the concernd, or as many
as are within your reach for the transaction of this affair, with a power of
substitution in case you are not able to finish it during your stay here, &
hope you will be able to bring with you the reversion of Judge Russell’s
decree. As you joyn with us in opinion that it is necessary to give the
lawyers a generous fee & ask advice what sum will be proper we have
thoughts guineas each may be prudently bestow’d to engage their attention
