Providence is in 25º It is Twenty eight
miles long and Eleven broad some of them are
of much larger sizes than these but not above
three or four inhabited Providence is
the seat of government in 1763 the import
to Great Britain were above £4000 from
Providence I before remarked that the climate is
excellent in most of them of this I have been
asured by a gentleman who spent some time
among them during the last war he added
that the heats were tempered in the very hottest
months by the sea breeze and the number of
islands surrounding gave them more than
an equivalent for the land breeze by gently
fanning them with eddies and gales of wind
