and the Grouping Instinct are respectively the general instincts tending to personal well-being, the ordering of society, and the awakening of ideas. The Gust-Instinct, the Ghost-Instinct, and the Garb-instinct are sensuous instincts, or instincts of feeling, not recognizing their own quasi-purposes which are respectively personal well-being, the ordering of society, and the awakening of ideas under the guidance of feeling, or personal consciousness. The Getting-Instinct, the Gore-Instinct, and the Graphic Instinct are working instincts, or instincts of human business, which regard themselves as half-selfish, but whose true quasi-purposes are again respectively personal well-being, the ordering of society, and the awakening of ideas under the guidance of direct impulses of human reaction. The Gentleman Instinct, the Gamic Instinct, and the Gnostic Instinct are the highest instincts in their respective groups.
