This involves a deeply interesting diffienlty (not the mere stuntlirpover a regressus as infinitum) which shall be touched upon before the close of this volume.
As to the other hypothesis it only concerns me here to say that as those peoples who believe in prophets looks for this gist particularly among the insane so the power here supposed wouls be altogether sifferent from the operation of reasoning.
Take experimental reasoning for example here we have pairedness between the experiments and the results of the experiments cinsisting in the fact that the results follow the experiments in accordance with a previous hypothesis; and the nature of these pairednesses is such that they could not have existed had not a third thing the prediction been made.
Just as a real pairedness consised in a fact being true of A which would be nonsense if B were not there
