Ginger Loaf Cake 12 oz flour 6 oz butter ½ cup brown sugar 1 pt baking molasses 2 eggs 1½ tbs [tbsp] ginger 1½ tbs cinnamon 1 saltspoon mace little allspice 1½ teaspoon b powder 2 doz large raisins may be added & 2 tbs sherry or water sift flour & bp 3 times For war times substitute 4 oz rice flour & 4 oz [Santay?] or 4 oz Potato Flour
{Bake ¾ hr last ¼ hr put asbestos plate under pan}

Cornstarch Cakes
¼ cup shortening ½ cup sugar ½ cup flour ½ cup cornstarch 1 tsp baking powder pinch salt 2 eggs flavoring Cream butter & sugar, add yolks of eggs & flavoring sift flour b.p. & cornstarch 4 times then add by spoonfuls alternately with well beaten whites of eggs. Use muffin pans.
{Bake 15 to 20 minutes}

Christmas Pound Cake Mothers recipe Delicious 12 oz [ounce] butter 12 oz flour 12oz powdered sugar 8 eggs separated 1 tablespoon brandy or Jamaica rum 1 salt spoon mace 1 tsp baking powder
Cream butter & sugar add yolks 1 at a time then whites flavoring & flour & b.p. [baking powder] sifted 3 times.
{Bake in moderate oven ¾ hr}
