Know all men by these presents that I Hannah Robinson, a free woman of colour, of the City of Richmond have manumitted emancepated and set free and by these presents do manumitt emancipate, and set free my Daughter Elizabeth Robinson who was sold and delivered to me by Harriet B Porter, with the consent of R Edmond on the 27th day of April 1848 and I hereby declare her the said Elizabeth Robinson to be entirely liberated from slavery, and entitled to all the rights and privileges of a free person with which it is in my power to vest her. She the said Elizabeth Robinson hereby emancipated is a woman of brown complexion, and will be nineteen years old on the 10th day of May 1849. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 13th day of December in the year 1848[.] Hannah Robinson X her mark Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of James Ellett Thomas Ellett Andrew E Ellett

Rec'd for R Edmond from colored woman Hannah Robinson Four hundred and five dollars for the purchase of her Daughter Elizabeth Robinson from Harriet B Porter with the consent of said R Edmond For Hannah B Porter $405 Richmond April 24 1848 Edmond Porter

At a monthly court held for Henrico County at the Courthouse on Monday the 1st day of January 1849. This deed of emancipation was proved by the oaths of James Ellett and Thomas Ellett two of the witnesses to the same and with the receipt annexed ordered to be recorded[.] Teste Loftin N Ellett C.H.C.
