SUMMARY OF MILITARY OCCUPATIONS: THEATRICAL ENTERTAINMENT DIRECTOR: As entertainment officer, Special Services, Iceland Base Command, was responsible fir investigating program civilian actressesincluding variety shows, minstrels, musicals and plays such as "Doughgirls", "Angel Street", "Heaven Can Wait", and "The Drunkard." Was instrumental in design and supervised the construction of two theaters. As cheif of the Entertainment Branch, Special Services, European Theatre of Operations was in charge of overall soldier program of the theatre. Formulated policies, directed supply, and supervised billeting, transportation, and scheduling of all U.S.O. personnel. Planned, organised, and activated the 6817th Special Service Battalion and established it's Headquarters and Chateu, France. Was also in charge of the allied civilian show secti9on. Supervised the activites of approximately 3,000 enteratiners anmd enlistted personnel in theatrics. Awarded legion of Merit for exeptional meritorious service in organising and activating the 6817th Special Service Battalion, Authorized the Europe-Africa-Middle Eastern Ribbon and the American Theatre Ribbon.
