Dear Julia
I am glad to hear you are well,
and willing to be a sojourner
in the land - the possibility of
life grown greater as we grow
older, I think if I could go back
thirty years, I should be like some
bodys sister - "sublime, beautiful
and paint in water colors".
And it pleases me to say, that I
never see your verse now, that
it does not strike as being on a par
with so much of the present verse,
but far superior and Stoddard has
