I am not very merry now for Torey left us for California yesterday with a San Francisco manager who has accepted a play of his which has to rehearse there.

Torys present success is phenominal. He is to write a play for Salvi - another for Mrs Fiske and just as he left a letter came from Olga Nethersole accepting a play - which has been refused more than once - so you see success makes success - not a very nice hope for human perceptions.
