Ed. Independent:

I write to inquire whether a poem I sent you from the West has been accepted. I think I called it "The Inalienable Gift."

will you return it to me either here or at Beverly, Mass.?

If printed, I should be glad to have a copy of the paper containing it sent me, at Beverly, with check for payment. My letters are always forwarded to me, either from there, or from the accompanying address.

Truly yours, Lucy Larcom
