329 East 15th Street New York June 4 87 My dear Mr John I enclose you a blank verse poem of Mrs Stoddard's of which I think highly, and which I offer to the Independent. To make it read easier I have copied it in my lovely little pot books. I have not left the house to say in two weeks, but I hope soon to get back into my working traces and to see you. The first verse that I can make myself write is for the Independent. Yours truly R H Stoddard John Eliot Bowen Esq New York
