Mr Bowen My Dear Sir, Your favor of the 8th came duly to hand: unfortunately I had no acquaintance with Mr. Saxe - indeed do not remember even to have seen him - nor am I at all familiar with his writings. You see I give all the counts against myself - as if enough were not already understood to cheapen my aptitude for current literary topics.
