Transcript Office Portland Ap 5/83 Friend Underwood My wife fully intended to be in Amesbury on Fast Day, but finds herself unable to go, her health not permitting. Hope you find her uncle in good health & well disposed to concede whatever you asked. My wife thinks it may be better she was not there, as it would have looked like an arrangement, & this would have been displeasing to him. His deafness tends to make him suspicious. Glad to hear of your improved health from the kind [acts ?] of your son. Yours truly S T Pickard
