March 14th. 96. My own darling Received the Wed. night and Thursday morning letters this morning, dear one don't apologise for the brevity of them, and don't ever feel that you must strain a joint and with a long letter when you are too tired for more than a word - One little sentence from you, my heart's image, is enough to make me happy.

Florence Lane has been here this afternoon and we have had such a pleasant time; she is a dear girl, but grows much plainer, than when we knew her. A strange thing that family being all so goodlooking at an early age and then growing plain as they approach maturity. It was the same with Pauline, Bert, and Frank. Mae Van is going to meet me at Trinity Church vesper services, tomorrow and then come up and take tea and we shall go to church in the evening together. By the Bye, Florence told me that Frank had been made a deacon in the church. It does seem hard that old age & responsibilities are being so forced upon that poor boy while he ought to be having a good time, he is bearing the family burdens and his father glarishing [sic] all over the world - There's a screw loose some where. Well, dear one I am tired and have run out of things to say - so a loving goodnight kiss -

how unsatisfactory these ink and paper ones are - but in a month's time all will be different - Sweetheart Goodnight - Your Sunshine Sunday afternoon My own Darling, I went to the Reformed Episcopal Church this morning with Mrs. Russell & Natalie & during the sermon which was not interesting I allowed my mind to wander into pleasant paths. There has been a plan growing in my mind for some months and gradually taking form; which I believe will embody & give a working foundation to my aim in life - you know - what I told you that night out north, when we were last in the [ ?] I long to tell you all about my [ember's ?] scheme, for you only can be my confident. But it will wait - Mae is now here so will say goodbye Sweetheart Your own loving Grace
