My own darling Barbara.
Your no.60. of 19th Sept came last week
& picked me up out of the depths. But no.59. which
contained photographs is missing, which is infuriating & very
sad. Will you please send me another one of you in
a bathing costume. Your letter was half taken up with
serious remarks about various things - & this seems to have
struck a vein in me, because I promptly replied wtih a
16 page letter, mainly about politics, social scenery & etc.
Please send me back an immediate p.c. if this saves you,
because I might do it again. But there is so terribly
little to talk about in letters just now, & I think quite a
deal about all the post war problems. The war seems
interminable, doesn't it? The Russians continue to be
magnificient - but the Nazis go on & on - & so many other
things have happened about U.S.A, & Japan & ourselves - but
the end seems no nearer. I have a starnge & deep feeling
that many things are going to happen all at once & that
a tremendous grande finale is gong to set in. But still
nothing really happens. My feeling for you, darling, is closer
& deeper & more & more urgent & I think of you all day
& every day. But iti s such a long tme - one year yesterday since
I arrived in the M.E. Love and kisses to Maxie & all of everything to you -
Always your Harry. XXXXX.
