Darling Barbara
It is lovely to be able to speak to you again - if only on the bloody buzzer. It would have been marvellous to be with you today or tomorrow. Thank God Wednesday is really quite near. I am most disappointed that the parcel from Jaeger did not reach you today. I made a tremendous effort to get into Chester yesterday afternoon - & they promised faithfully to send it to the General P.O. at once - this at 5-0 p.m. I hope you will like the things - but I made the definite arrangement that you

could take them back & exchange. I felt most frightfully brave - marching in & choosing these things.
I have been busy on Xmas cards. as I told you on the phone. I will give you a list of who I proposed to send them to - excluding my own particular friends & relations - & perhaps you will have some to add. Those with a X - I want the address from you if possible.
(in columns)
Ridpath X, Crane, Branco X, Paul X, Sewar, Phillips, Parmenter X, Wedd, Hodgson, Hollsworth, Mitchell, Williams.
I haven't bought a single Xmas present yet - & unless I get

a command from you - I don't really expect to bring myself to the task.
I am writing Birchall confirming about the car, & sending a route - & also about the wireless.
I think if you could arrange to set off at 9-30 a.m. it would be a good thing. I think you should also arrange to have letters forwarded to Wm North & Co Ltd.
Also to have the telephone cut off and/or removed. And what shall we do about the gas cooker?
If you do not feel equal to grappling with these odds & sods,

let me know, darling & I will write to the various people.
Also to stop the papers.
It would be fine if you were to feel like coming to the [Crebbit?] party on Wednesday - I suspect it will begin about 6-0 to 6-30 - & go on for an hour and a half or so - but we have no need to stay on.
It would at least give you an opportunity of seeing all these various people - & I have to pay in any case.
I shall be seeing Pattie & Jos tomorrow evening.Stanier has a married

sister in Nantwich - & he is picking me up & taking me over there for lunch etc - & then we shall go to Tarporley on the way back.
I can't say that I feel particularly bright or cheerful this evening - I have been alone since 2-0 o'clock. So I think I will have a spot of sleep - in the chair, before turning out the wretched guard.
Lots of love & kisses, darling one -
Harry.
