Dear Cousin Rachel.

I received your letter and meant to answer it before but I have not had time. You did not tell me any thing about your son that is in the war. I hope he is well is he at Washington yet? They talk of sending me to Union Springs this fall to School. I went to the villige this morning and saw 2 donkeys in a Circus. We have 22 horses on this place. 27. I did not finish my letter yesterday and I dont know [in right margin:] excuse this blot as I shall to day. We got a lot of Tomatoe plants the other day and the same night the frost took them all but 2 or 3. We have got 6 cows (very good eh ones too) and 4 yearlings 3 of whit are good ones.

Grand Father thinks he will go home about the 1 of June.
