Burlington, Apr 7, 1861.

My Dear Friend,

I rec'd your letter last eve. I need not say how glad I was to hear of your success in the doctoring line and I hope that you may be cured ultimately. My medicine has not come yet but will be here in a day or two.

I know that I shall feel much better than I do now tho I am feeling quite well now. My cider is helping me and my coffee in the morning quiets my nerves wonderfully. Without out that I could hardly keep my hands still. I believe I shall be somebody yet, at any rate I am [now?] sorry that I concluded to stop here. And if I could have you for company I should be content. In fast I am lonesome, lonesome in doors and out. I occasionally take our customary walk but I miss you.

Our vacation is over and we shall resume our duties to-morrow. I have spent my time writing my sophomore piece which comes on slowly. I am not in the right frame of mind and condition of body to justice to myself and the class of '63. We have some splendid writers in the class. Erhardt Kile, Patterson & Catlin are good and will have excellent pieces. Erhardt is as good a writer as there is in College. Kile stand up well. I hope to come next but may not. I shall do as well as I can and let luck take care of the rest. On the whole we shall have a much better exhibition than they had last year.

Height will be here soon. I do not know whether he will speak at our exhibition or not: If he does he will have a good piece.

I have but little time to devote to writing this morning.

When you come down we can talk over all things.

I wish you would take my trunk along with you and such things as belong to me.

I am

Your Friend

Henry
