Dear Cousin R. B. Stevens

Thy letter of the 4 inst came duely to hand. I think thee can take the Steam Boat from Burlington to Whitehall & the cars from there to Troy so as to take the evening bote to New York and have the company of Friends from Troy and perhaps from Whitehall. Sarah & I generally go by Whitehall and Saratoga to Troy we have to stay at Rutland till three oclock P.M. and are at Whitehall a head of the boat but the cars wate for the boat by this rout when we arive at Troy we have to go with hast to the Boat that starts on the

arival of pasengers from the lake we learn that the day boats landed friends at Burlington at a few minutes past 10. O.Clock. I think the boat would be likely to leave Burlington betwene 10 & 11. OClock A.M. In case thou had to stop in Troy the American Hotell would be the likeliest place to meet with friends you can ascertain what time it will take to run from Montpelier to Burlington as I do not know how the cars run on that road. we shall start on 4 day of the week the 28 inst and if thou takes the morning boat we shall meet at Whitehall. In case we do not meet on the way After ariving at New York thou can have thy bagage caried by the Express Agent for 25 cts to anny

place thee wishes. last year there was a reliable agent on the boat that took charge of our lugage befor we landed. we walked last year from the wharf up to the Citty Hall Park crossed Broad Way at the [lone?] end of the Park on Chatham St. the 3d Avanew cars start from that place and will carry passingers verry near the meeting house that is on 20th Street betwene 3d and 4 Avanues. leave the cars at 20th st the house is on the left hand side of the Street. it would be as well to have bagage caried to the house if one has no other place in view

Sarah is quite smart now. our relatives & friends are in usual health . we had a small Quartly Meeting [H?] Jewell the one [?] one from [Paraham?].

[in left margin:]

*be shure and take the 3d Avanue cars
