Sept 27th 1864

Dear Mother,
It is with much pleasure that
I seat myself for the purpose of
writing you a few lines to inform
you that I am well and truly
hope it may find you all in
good helth. I would have writen
sooner but had not the means.
Cousin George East is ded he died February?
6th. I am getting on very well
for a prisoner but tiard of confinement
I hope we will soon be exchange
so I can come home. Write soon.
Give my love to all the
family. Direct to me prisoner
of war Company F 7th
