I received two letters
this morning from Mr. Jas [?]
now Suptndt of the State of [Wisconsin?]
Fish Hatchery, formerly our
Officer in charge of the Sandwich
Hatchery; - He kindly offered
his services to get a lot of Spec
Trout fry [from?] [our?] Establishment
(with whom he makes [Exchanges?]
of fish) to be delivered at Chicago
[?] for $5.00 per [thousand]; His second
letter went further in stating
that, after seeing the [?]
he thought he could put in
100,000 young fry at about $3.00
per [thousand] – and [?] he sent a [message?]
for them to Chicago, he would
donate 10,000 California Trout
Eggs in consideration of his
former acquaintance with
me, as he attributed his present
success with a Salary of $1800.00
and all Expenses paid, from
the knowledge he obtained from
me as a boy when working at
this Newcastle hatchery, and
afterward in charge of the
Sandwich Hatchery – I [?]
