I think it had better be deferred.

Feby. 22- Grand procession followed by an oration from Mr.
Tarpley (ed. note: this might have been 'Tapley') in the Senate.
As it was a National celebration, we expected a national theme,
but not so. An eulogy on James K. Polk was the most appropriate
subject. Bishop Polk and Freeman arrived about 9 o'clock that
evening.

Feby. 23d - Go in to church too late to see it consecrated.
Have declined having Isaac Henry baptised. Mrs. Forrester came and
carried off Hetty to pass the night. Wish I could see my dear
husband, or at least, hear from him.

Feby. 24- Raining all the past night. Roads wretched.
Started in to church very early House crowded. All curious to
witness the consecration of Mr. Green. Bishop Otey presided,
assisted by Polk, Goff and Freeman. The Bishop and the clergy
in their robes, and the solemn service made it extremely imposing.
After dinner write to Mr. H- I never in my life wanted to see
him so much. Perverse thing that I am - want always to appreciate
him most when apart. Our boy seems better tonight.

Feby. 25 - The Bishop up at the first dawn of the day -
swallow a cup of coffee and off for the cars - We arrive in town -
first to the mantuamaker's, the shopping. Hetty leaves us
previous to taking her leave for Judge Guion's. Purchase 3 French
books. Return at 4.

Feby. 28 - Cutting out for Isaac Henry all the morning.
Letters from Mr. Hilliard and 5 or 6 from Kentucky. Mrs. Dix and
