To the Hon Mayor and common council of the city of Seattle

Gentlemen

The Petitioner an old resident of the city aforesaid & tax pay er of the same, would respectfully show to the honorable body that his property situated on the corner of 4th & Jackson was on the 6th day of June, 1889 entirely destroyed by fire, that since that time your petitioner has been compelled to live in

That as the cold and damp weather is near at hand, he will be so exposed in this tent as to be entirely unable to do any business and hence, unable to earn a living for his family, unless allowed by your Honorable body to cover and surround the tent aforesaid with corrugated iron, Hence your petition er would most respectfully ask permis sion of the body to protect
