To The Hon Mayor & City Council

Gentlemen,

We the undersigned your petitioners being engaged in the wholesale and retail fruit and vegetable business in this city respectfully ask your honorable body to take immediate action in reference to street peddlers. As the matter now stands the retail fruit dealers cannot compete with the fruit street vendors for the reason that street vendors have very little expense. They move from one corner to another selecting the most frequented thoroughfares, they pay no rent, their license is nominal, and experience demonstrates that they can call at a profit which to the retailer would be runinous.
