January 11th 1873

The Club met at the house of Wm W. Moore: All the members being present, some coming in quite late. The first thing done was to revise the Annual question: how shall we get a secretary, & who will serve. After a thorough ventilation & no prospect of success, a Member volunteered to accept the uncompensated & much dreaded position.

Wm S Brooke was appointed Foreman, & the minutes of the last meeting here were read; We started out to look around with J. F. Thomas & John Thomas as guests. were shown some very fine Pigs, Chester & a cross of Chester & Berkshire.

One three year old cow had made 200 lbs of Butter in 9 months, & 6 Cows averaged $14.00 worth of Butter in same time, at 35 c/n. lb. The barnyard contained many acres. The Colts were small, one 2 1/2 yr old gave promise to make a fine horse. The ^ new Dairy we were told was a success, tho very far from the house. A new Ice house had just been filled, but the saw dust roof was objected to by some.

On returning to the house, a member asked, 2 would it be best to plant Potatoes in a Peach orchard 3 years old.

Wm. W. Moore was appointed Foreman, after reading the minutes of the last meeting held here, we walked thro, a grass field with a tolerable set of timothy, but scarcely any clover.

We found part of the Reaper laying where it was last used during the past harvest, hope the hints thrown out, will help it to shelter. We passed a promising field of corn ground wheat which had been top dressed with fine manure, the Rail Road stakes brot. forth some comment.

The stock mostly looked well, two young colts were rough, & not like our hosts stock generally.

The Committee appointed to select a name for our Club reported the names Union and Enterprise. Unanimously adopted to accept the name Enterprise Club of Montgomery Co.

On motion it was ordered that the last secretary, Wm W. Moore shall be the Corresponding sec. for our Club.
