Mr James Rennie

Vina, Cal.

Dear Sir

Yours of Oct. 8th received and I note what you say of having crushed up to the night of Oct.7th a few tons over 3000 of grapes, and that you estimate there is still 3500 tons more to be crushed. I am pleased to know that the crop is so large as it was estimated some time ago that we would only have about 6000 tons.

I note what you say regarding the 20,000 fortifying tanks using 65 bbls. of high proof spirits, and our stills will not produce this every 24 hours. You are aware that the fortifying tanks are very much larger than ever before but we will see what the season turns out and maybe next year we can afford to purchase another continuous still to be operated in connection with the making of sweet wines. I note what you say that the machinery, with a few minor exceptions, is now doing good work and you anticipated no more delays. I know this information will please Mrs. Stanford (who is now in New York) and I will send her a copy of your letter to me, and a copy of my reply.

Respectfully

CHAS. G. LATHROP
