Esteemed friend
I have this day rec.d your favours of Decb.r 30th & Jan.y 1st. John Nixon mentioned that the goods were ship'd by your order but intimated that as they were not the whole if you refused to take them desired me to take them or dispose of them for him, I did not intend they should have been sent without your order, & T: Marshall knew the Circumstance & I did not expect he would have sent them, but he apprehen'd from your letter that you had rec.d mine & wanted them sent which I am very sorry for if it don't suit you to keep them I have been upward of two Weeks at Norfolk & am but just return'd, & as the season will be far Spent before they could be got back besides the Expence attending it, I should be you would dispose of them if you can, on my acco't if they will but fetch the first Cost & Charges, if you Can't do that please to send them back as soon as possible —
I have sent the Goods according to your Order & at foot is the wt. of P. Coffe's Tobo. & what came to day
I am with esteem.
Your assured Friend,
Edwd Stabler
