It is needless to discuss the
methods of regulating the ad-
-mission of the canal water in-
-to the heads of the terminal lines,
[nor if, struck through] or to detail[ing, struck through] the uses that
may be made of each separate
regulator, further than ^[to say] that the
measures provided for [of, struck through] laying
either one or other of the branches
dry, and that this can be effected
under any amount of supply
in the main trunk by the aid
of the escapes which lie imme-
-diately above them.

The [1st?] Class Choki in
consequence of the above described
position of the axis of the main
trunk, and from the form on
which the designs of these works
are lined out, having built on the
axis, has an aspect bearing
directly upon the alignment
of the main channel. The
bridge roadways are 25 feet
in width, and they are crossed
by the Grand Trunk Road in
its passage from Cawnpoor to
Alligurh.

These works are with the
exception of the arches built
entirely of Kunkur, the arches
are of brick of the usual dim-
-ension of 12" x 6" x 3".

The proportions of material
used in the cement are as follows:

1 part of Kunkur Lime to
1/20th of White Stone Lime.
