Williston, N.D. Sept. 13 '15

Gov. William Spry:-

I hold you personally and the
State of Utah responsible for the freedom of Joe Hill
(Hilstrom) He was convicted because of his activities
in the labor movement. Should the death sentence
against him be carried out Utah would record a
most shocking and shameful crime which would
have disastrous and ruinous effects to all parties
concerned. In calling your attention to this I am
not asking a favor I am merely advising you
to exhibit the courage, the fairness, and evenhanded
justice that you would expect for yourself

Respectfully yours
Arthur J. Flemming.
