Tonopah, Nevada, July 28 1914. 191
His Excellency William Spry
Governor of Utah.
Salt Lake City,Utah.

Honorable Sir:

Tonopah Miners Union # 121 Western Federation
of miners at their last regular meeting Tuesday July 28th
unanimously decided to protest agains the execution of Joseph
Hillstrom.Who has been convicted of murder at Salt Lake City on
the flimsiest kind of circumstantial evidence. We have the
proff that the jury was predjudiced against the defendant because
he was a member of the"Industrial Workers of the World" and were
led by this predjudice to bring in averdict which if carried to
its conclusion will put a blot on the record of the State of Utah t
that the lapse of a thousand years cannot remove.

The workers of this country are awakening to the
crimes that are being perpetrated on the members of their class
by the Judicial Tyrants and such high handed proceedings as the
above can have no other effect than to speed the coming of the
Revelution that will remove all possibilityof miscarriages of
Justice such as the conviction of Joseph Hillstrom. Hoping that you
will use the Prerogative of your office and prevent this legal murder.

Signed,Tonopah Miners Union # 121 W.F.M.
