sold, amounting to eighty pounds, and the 29th of Augt. [August] the thirty by Cobb amounting to one hundred & thirteen pounds two shilling & four pence, in neither of those accounts are any discounts allow'd [allowed], altho' [although] the account current mentioned as above debts you with five hundred and ninety six eighteen shillings and we think it justly observable there had been no draughts nor goods sent till after these sales, and yet in your letter of the 24 Sep. 1732 you give in vindication, that you were not in cash referring to a letter of the 6th of October 1729, which never as we can find came to hand. We must assure you we cannot be satisfied with your keeping back the discounts. If yo. [you] mean by your not being in cash, that the persons to whom the tobo. [tobacco] were sold has not paid you the money due for the tobo. [tobacco], we desire to know how such long credts. [credits] given can be construed in favour of the consigner, and when we may value our selves upon the produce of our tobos., since neither the accots [accounts] of sales which are but very low, nor the accots [accounts] currt. [Current] transmit'd [transmitted], can convey any property. In yr. [your] account currt [current] dated Sep. 1. 1731. which we take to be your last, yo. [you] make the balance in favour of our father, eight hundred & fourthy [forty] eight pounds four shillings and ten pence, but upon the balk of it, you distroy [destroy] almost all the xredit that you gave, by an article of outstanding debts. This is a practice that we cannot be easy under, and rather then be liable to the misfortunes which daily fall on this country we must agree to the additional half perCent on your sales, thereby obliging you to make good all sales from the date of your accots. [accounts]. We expect an answer to this acknowledging that you do agree to make good all your future sales upon a commission of 3 PCo [percent].
