Mr. Edwd. [Edward] Athawes

Sir,

I am now to Acknowledge the Receipt of your Several Letters by the last ships; & to give as particular an Answer as I can, which at this time I fear will be far from an exact one. The Necessary you bought for my own, my Cousins, & Brothers Family is came in Good order & it was a piece of Kindness in you to pay the Bills drawn on you [crossed out] my own and their Accots. When I consider this I cannot but be at a loss to know what you mean by being in advance to every Branch of our family; nighter [neither?] can I see the Occasion you had to tell me, that their [there] was enough left of my fathers Bank Stock to overcome all Difficulties; since, whatever Construction you put upon my words. I never intended to answer for anything more than the Money to be advanced by you for my Cousin if not by this at least by next years [Remedances?] of Tobo. [Tobacco] And if this Method be thought too slow be so kind as to let me know it, & I will imediately [immediately] take some other to discharge what I engaged for on their Accot. [Account] I desire you will make use of the first good Opportunity to Dispose of theirs & my Tobo. [Tobacco] & let me have Accots. of sales & Accounts Current of all Transactions between us by the Next ships for
