Mr Robert Cary

Rappa June 29th 1737

Sir

There is some doubt how our Fathers Will is to be constructed in relation to a legacy given to our Brother George Carter, the Question being, as you will see by the inclosed paper's, whether it be Bank stock or Cash that pass by the Design and words of the Testator. We shall own it as a particular favor if you will apply to Mr Sergeant Parker, with whom the secretary had the Honor to be formerly acquainted, & beg of him to get, if it be possible, My Lord Chancellor's Opinion upon the Case, which we believe will be easily understood from the Codicil Extraction of the Will. We should hardly hope that his Lordship would spare time enough to consider the matter, were it not that by the Authority of so great a mans opinion, a Dispute may be prevented between our Brother George and Us. And we desire that and will propose to our Brother to sign an agreement to stand to my Lord Chancellors Determination which we shall be ready to submit to. If this should occasion any Expence, two third of it shall be reimbursed or the whole, if our Brother should refuse to bear any Part by.

Sir
Your most humble Serv. [Servant]
