That 4d. per yard was more than any painter Could deserve for plain work, & every Gentleman that has been in London, and has made any inquiry About these matters must know that the best of Journeymen House painters may be hired for 2 [unknown symbol] day. after all, I shall never be ashamed to Correct any errors I may fall into, I shall be willing to submit this accot. against Mr. Page's Estate to the Determination of Col. Grymes on any Gentleman who you can depend upon.

The demand of plate is allways a part of your Letters & what can I say more to it than I have done, if you would have been contented with any division when Mr. Kerr was here without having the Old Sterling to your self it might have been made, & I now tell you that as I suppose the Whole Quantity must be somewhat worse than when he valued it, & so you might suffer by having [word scribbled out] the half of it now, I am willing to pay you half of his Valuation, one third of it next year, & two thirds the two years following, and if you do not approve of this, let the whole plate be weigh'd over again, that it & pay me for one half of the value in the time before Mention'd. As to your part of the Books it is impossible to do any thing without your being present, and if you think proper to come down at the time before Mentioned such a division may be made as may be agreeable to Each of us, at least I shall do all I can towards it - Mr. Chapman will leacv my Business in a few days, but I will get him to come here after the General Court to Explain Everything and if you will call on Mr. Landon, I hope he will come with you. I desire that no story's of Clo[in margins] or Tools being Carried to your house or else where being lost may have any Weight.
