Dâr Kîtā 6-30 A.M. Temp 60° Baro. L. 28.20 clear, calm
P&N want to Bābiskā in morning - N. made a rough plan
creating the principal buildings. P left about 12-30 and N. took
lunch inside of the ruins of a woman's bath in the shade of one I
the walls - tall thick grass inside and a fig tree - alone and
undietunbed. B&L went from Dâr Kîtā accras the etec? sided
rocky wadi to the S.W. to Burdj id-Dērûnī a ruin on the hill side
150 ft above the wadi & on the S.W. side of it. It is a view of a single
building. From there they ascended the hill side in about 15 mins
to Bākishā, a runid town of some size, well preserved, many
walls standing, situated on the hill steep side, and commanding a
fine view to the N.W. and N. of the lower hills and plain of
il-Amk behind which stretch the Taurus ???? uninhabited
(See B. for architecture) from there they went N. over the crest of the
hill to Khirbit il-khatîb

where P. joined them covering from Bārbiskā from Khirbit
il-Khatîb they returned to camp at Dâr Kîtā.
N. left Bābiskā about 2-00 and arived at Bākirhā in a little
over an hour expecting to join the others there, but not finding them
lay in the shade of the wall of a beautiful ruined church in a bed
of soft grass strewn with yellow buttercups and brilliant red poppies,
smoked a pipe, and drank in the beauties of the scene for a little
one half an hour & then decended the steep rocky hill side into the
wadi & up the other hill side to camp in 25 mins to 1/2 home.
