PROSPECTUS.

EMPIRE COAL COMPANY, OF CHICAGO.

Chauncey T. Bowen, John C. Hilton, A. C. Badger,
Walter W. Hilton, and Octavius F. Badger, having
procured a very liberal Special Charter from the Leg-
islature of Illinois, propose to orgainze a Coal Com-
pany under the above title, with a Capital Stock of
$500,000 to be divided into 5,000 Shares of $100
each.

The large and constantly increasing demand for
fuel in this city is but imperfectly met by the present
sources of supply, as indicated by the high prices and
great scarcity, and every additional means of increas-
ing this supply is of great advantage. It is, there-
fore, proposed to make this a Chicago Company,
working principally for this market, and it is esti-
mated that $300,000 paid up will put the company
in successful operation.
