Shell oval; aperture longitudinal, terminating inferiorly by an oblique sinus; a conic tooth at the base of the lip internally-Very near Purpurea.

Shell turbinate or sub-fusiform, inflated, transverselly striated; substance of the shell thick; transverse furrow linear, with indistinct angular points; spine short; suture small; whorls six; convex; umbilicus large or none, mouth ovate, narrow; columella thickened; outer lip sharp.
