To the honorable, the Council and house of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin in Legislature assembled, we the citizens of the County of Grant would respectfully represent that whereas meetings have been held in different parts of this Territory to [advise?] [upon?] not; to execute and [inform?] the feelings of foreigners to a degree of complaint not compatible with the general character of our foreign population-and whereas, at said meetings, resolutions have been adopted to [considerable?] of American Laws and American citizens to the product of foreigners-and whereas petitions have been put up in said meetings, to ask of the Legislature the passage of such an act during its present session as will enable "every white male inhabitant of the Territory of the twenty over years, to vote for a state form of government and for members of a convention to form a constitution" which petitions have been industriously circulated-Therefore we deem it inexpedient and unjust to the population of Wisconsin for the Legislature to take any action on the subject during their present session-

1st Render the subject has not been before the people in general but has been confined to the limits of a few towns & [counties?]

2nd. Because we believe the great majority of the population of Wisconsin are opposed to the adoption of such a measure-foreign & native born
